About Us

Glasgow University Cheerleading (GUC) has something for everyone – no matter how much experience you have!

We have competitive Level 1 all-girl cheer, and competitive Level 2 co-ed cheer that involve dance, stunts, jumps and tumble and compete in Scottish and UK National Competitions.

In addition, we offer Group Stunt who compete at UK and Scottish competitions, and Pom Dance who compete at Scottish and UK National Competitions.

Finally, if you are looking to do cheer for fun or to gain experience, we have a recreational team and new development team. Glasgow University Cheerleading Club allows everyone to push themselves, learn new skills, have fun and develop great friendships as part of a University sports team.

Successes

As a club we have an outstanding success rate, competing at least twice a year across Britain.

This year, GUC achieved one of our most successful seasons to date. Our Level 1 all-girl team attended Legacy University Nationals and won their division and Grand Champions at Level 1 for the 2nd year in a row.

Our pom team also attended Legacy and won their division; Pom also competed at Future Cheer where they were achieved 3rd place in their division.

Our Level 2 co-ed team also attended Future Cheer and achieved 2nd place in their division.

This year we had Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Group Stunt teams who competed at SOAR and Scotcheer; all three teams were amazing, placing 1st, 2nd and 2nd at SOAR.

This year GUC has set a standard of excellence which we are determined to uphold.

What GUC has to offer you

As a huge sports club at the university, we always make time to socialise together with frequent themed nights, dinners and joint socials as a club or with other sports teams at the Uni. These opportunities offer a great environment for the team to become closer and for every member to get to know one another!

Insurance

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the appropriate insurance cover for any activity you take part in.  Upon joining, please check the level of insurance cover we, as a club, provide to you.

GUSA recommends that all students playing high risk sport, go abroad to compete/train, or are playing in governing body leagues, may want to consider/need to take out personal liability insurance, or join the sports governing body to be covered.  Some insurance providers also offer specialist sports cover.
