About Us
If you want to participate in the only truly extreme sport at the University of Glasgow, then there’s no better place to do it than our very own Skydiving Club!
Your First Jump
Most of our members come to us having never skydived before, and that’s totally okay! Our home dropzone Skydive Strathallan provides all the training you need through their solo static line courses. We can help to secure you a slot on one of these courses that will take you right from the beginning all the way up to your first solo jump!
Pricing:
- Club Membership = £20
- Course slot deposit (paid in advance) = £30
- Course price + first jump (paid on the day) = £90
- TOTAL = £140*
*This assumes you already have a UofG sports membership (peak or off-peak) OR a GUSA affiliate membership, a requirement to join any Glasgow University sports club. The affiliate membership is the cheapest of these options at £60 for the year, please email or message the club on our socials for more info on this option including how to purchase.
Progression
To become a qualified skydiver, you have to obtain a British skydiving ‘A’ licence. This is a huge achievement and means you can skydive without supervision anywhere in the world!
This requires a further 17 jumps minimum, each of which come at a cost of £40. By simply being a club member you will recieve 3 free jumps on us totalling £120 in value! (For more info on these free jumps please email the club captain)
These jumps can be carried out on any weekend at the dropzone (weather permitting) and the dropzone offer packages to help you save money as you progress in the sport. We run a carpooling page as well as minibuses twice a month to help get you to and from the dropzone, which is included in club membership.
Club Kit
The club has an extensive list of kit available for use by any club member. This includes Altimeters, gloves, goggles, jumpsuits, and two complete parachute systems! If you are a recently qualified skydiver looking to join the club, then email our club captain for more info on our kit.
Socials
We run socials every two weeks with all details posted to our socials and in the club WhatsApp group. From pub crawls to chicken games, ceilidhs to karaoke, you can always guarantee the craic will be 90!
Insurance
It is each member’s individual responsibility to ensure they have the appropriate insurance for any activity they take part in. Upon joining, please make sure to check the level of insurance cover we, as a club, provide to you.
