About Us
Glasgow University Taekwondo Club (GUTKD) is one of the university's most successful martial arts clubs, receiving training from international award-winning coaches!
Training
We are a super friendly club and training sessions are a fantastic way to destress and meet new friends. Training runs two days a week, with optional training at our partner club available too. Training sessions are split into levels on a Wednesday - our coaches will advise you on what sessions are appropriate for you. We are a World Taekwondo club, with sessions primarily being focused on sparring and fitness. Don't worry if you've never sparred before or if you've done a different style of Taekwondo - the club is here to help! Sparring is totally optional and the club is also perfect for those just hoping to increase fitness and make some new friends.

Competition
Athletes have the opportunity to compete within BUCS Taekwondo and Parataekwondo events beginning in October. We also provide test match days and friendly sparring events against other Scottish unis to get you into the rhythm of sparring. Additionally, our participation in the Freshers Fight Night is always exciting!

Who can join?
Everyone can join! Our members range from complete beginners to sparring champions. Offering numerous official gradings across the year, everyone can progress at their own speed within GUTKD. Our club has experience coaching taekwondo and parataekwondo competitors, so we know how to help you reach your highest potential. Whatever your experience, we look forward to welcoming you into GUTKD!
Training Times
See the Club Sport Training Timetable for training times.
It's important to note that to safely participate in training, you must have the appropriate insurance. This year, (25/26) insurance and World Taekwondo membership is included in your club membership. If you already have your own WT insurance, please get in touch so our committee can confirm you're good to go!

Insurance
As we are a British Taekwondo registered club, all our members and coaches must be registered with British Taekwondo. British Taekwondo membership has a range of benefits, including insurance for club members and coaches.
More information on BT membership can be found here: British Taekwondo Membership Benefits - British Taekwondo
This year, British Taekwondo membership is included in our standard membership. We will organise membership for all club members when they join the club.
You should only purchase a previously insured athlete membership after discussion with our coaches and captain.
GUSA recommends that all students playing high risk sport, go abroad to compete/train, or are playing in governing body leagues, may want to consider/need to take out personal liability insurance, or join the sports governing body to be covered. Some insurance providers also offer specialist sports cover.
