About Us
Glasgow University Yoga Club is an inclusive, fun-loving group offering 6 classes a week as well as frequent socials and workshops!
Our teachers all have different styles, giving each class a different feel and flow. Our classes range from Yin to Vinyasa style practise, and we often explore other branches of yoga at our workshops! Our club is open and welcoming to all abilities – whether you're a complete beginner, have followed some YouTube videos or practice regularly to an advanced level, our classes offer fun, creative flows ensuring you leave feeling fully stretched and relaxed.
Training
Classes are open to all levels. Please see the Club Sport Training Timetable for class times. We have a limited number of mats available for our Stevenson building classes only, so we recommend bringing your own mat.
Socials
Socials are a brilliant way to make connections in the club and make friendships beyond our yoga classes! They are held roughly every two weeks. Our socials range from coffee catch-ups, pottery painting classes and having a good old boogie.
Workshops
In addition to our regular schedule of six classes a week, we offer a range of workshops that provide you with the opportunity to try a new activity, such as aerial yoga, reformer pilates and hot pod yoga! Workshops take place on a monthly basis and incur an extra cost (often heavily subsidised by the club) with limited spaces.
Welfare
The wellbeing of our members is of upmost importance to GUYC and we have a dedicated welfare convenor to offer support when needed. Our welfare convenor also heads up our fundraising campaigns for charities. If you would like to get in touch please email welfare-yoga@gusa.gla.ac.uk
Insurance
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the appropriate insurance cover for any activity you take part in. Upon joining, please check the level of insurance cover we, as a club, provide to you.
GUSA recommends that all students playing high risk sport, go abroad to compete/train, or are playing in governing body leagues, may want to consider/need to take out personal liability insurance, or join the sports governing body to be covered. Some insurance providers also offer specialist sports cover.
