16 Days of Activism is a global campaign which aims to raise awareness of and end violence against women and girls. It runs annually from 25 November to 10 December, with the Fight for the Night march taking place on 27 November.
GUSA, alongside SRC, QMU, and GUU, will be taking part in the march. We’ll be meeting at 17:30 at the Memorial Gates on University Avenue, then marching into town, where an after-event will be held at Strath Union from 8pm.
We’ll also be hosting a placard-making session with QMU, GUU, and the SRC on Wednesday 26 November at 6pm in the QMU, ahead of the march the following day.
In addition, we are running three Women’s-Only Martial Arts classes throughout the campaign with the Boxing, Karate, and Muay Thai clubs. Sign-ups are available on the GUSA portal.
We are also encouraging clubs to show their support by holding a “wear white” or white-ribbon training session, as an act of solidarity in the fight to end violence against women and girls.
